Customs and Tax authorities intensify audits on Chinese importers

Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) and the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) are conducting joint audits on companies importing goods from China, investigating potential tax and customs violations. The companies under inspection include Plaza Hope by ZZBQ SRL, Comercial WERAYO SRL, and Plaza Hope by BZHE SRL, which are suspected of engaging in practices that could harm legitimate trade.

These audits align with the national Tax Code, Customs Law 168-21, and other regulations, as part of a broader strategy to combat tax evasion and unfair competition. The directors of both institutions, Luis Valdez Veras (DGII) and Eduardo Sanz Lovatón (DGA), reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding lawful trade and penalizing those violating the law to the detriment of the Dominican economy.

The investigations rely on information sharing between the two agencies. Companies found compliant will continue operations, while those identified with tax or trade violations will face penalties under national regulations.
