Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed two Memoranda of Understanding to enhance cooperation between their nations. The agreements establish a Joint Council for Trade Promotion and Technical Cooperation and foster academic and professional exchanges. The signing, held at the National Palace during the Prime Minister’s historic visit, underscores efforts to strengthen bilateral ties in trade, defense, telecommunications, and tourism. President Abinader highlighted shared goals and complementary economies, emphasizing ongoing collaboration since 2021, particularly in agriculture and African Swine Fever vaccine development. He also noted discussions on a free trade agreement, cultural cooperation, and visa exemptions to facilitate investment and exchanges. Prime Minister Minh Chinh praised Abinader’s leadership and expressed confidence in advancing relations, citing shared ideals and opportunities in energy, technology, and education. The visit, marking the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations, included officials from both nations and showcased Vietnam’s first high-level delegation to the Dominican Republic. Both leaders emphasized a commitment to building a prosperous future through deeper cooperation and announced plans for further agreements to expand mutual development opportunities.
