Abinader welcomes Li Hongzhong at National Palace to strengthen ties with China

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader welcomed a high-level delegation from China, led by Li Hongzhong, Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress and member of the Communist Party’s Central Committee Political Bureau. The meeting, held in the National Palace’s Private Room, focused on advancing international cooperation between the Dominican Republic and China.

Key Dominican officials participated, including Chamber of Deputies President Alfredo Pacheco, Foreign Affairs Minister Roberto Álvarez, Presidency Minister José Ignacio Paliza, and Regional Integration Policies Minister Miguel Mejía. Chinese Ambassador Chen Luning also joined the discussion, which underscores the importance of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Li Hongzhong, a seasoned Chinese politician, has held notable positions such as Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Mayor of Shenzhen, and Secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Committee. His visit signifies China’s commitment to fostering collaborative efforts with the Dominican Republic.
